Storm activity first began in northern New Jersey at around 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 16. As of around 2:30 p.m., most of the more powerful storms have been in areas farthest south, with showers falling throughout much of the entire region. (See the satellite image above.)
Storms are expected to become more widespread and affect this part of the region later in the afternoon Friday.
Showers and storms will continue at times through the evening on Friday.
About to around three-quarters of an inch of rainfall is possible during the day and at night, with locally higher amounts possible.
More showers and thunderstorms are expected at times throughout the day on Saturday, June 17.
The high temperature will be in the low 70s.
Another half-inch of rainfall is possible on Saturday.
Father's Day on Sunday, June 18 should be dry for most of the day with partly cloudy skies and a high temperature in the mid-70s.
There will be a chance for showers from the middle of the afternoon to the middle of the evening Sunday, but the coverage area for showers will be much less than on Friday and Saturday.
The outlook for Juneteenth on Monday, June 19 calls for dry conditions with partly sunny skies and a high temperature in the low 70s.
